Netflix has unveiled the first official trailer for yet another live-action adaptation, Avatar: The Last Airbender, which is based on the animated Nickelodeon TV series of the same name. This comes just after the critically lauded live-action adaptation of the enormously famous anime series One Piece. Netflix’s history with anime adaptations has been uneven, but if this teaser is any guide, The Last Airbender may become just another huge hit for the service after One Piece.

The three seasons of the Nickelodeon anime Last Airbender, which followed Aang’s journey to become an expert in each of the other three elements (Fire, Earth, and Water), debuted in February 2005. When Netflix introduced The Last Airbender’s three seasons (a total of 61 episodes) to its streaming collection in 2020, the anime series took the top spot on the platform in just four days and remained in the top 10 for 60 days. It makes sense that Netflix approved a live-action version.

According to the information shared by Netflix, the show will premiere on Netflix on February 22 next year; In the meanwhile, viewers can watch all the previous three seasons available on the streaming giant’s platform.

Once upon a time, the four countries of the globe coexisted peacefully, with the Avatar, who was the master of each element, mediating disputes between them. However, all changed when the Fire Nation attacked and destroyed the Air Nomads, marking the beginning of the Firebenders’ global conquest. A young Air Nomad named Aang is followed in Avatar: The Last Airbender as he reawakens to a world destroyed by conflict. He sets out on an exciting journey with his newfound friends Sokka and Katara to claim his rightful place as the next AVATAR, as per the official synopsis.

The show is created by Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko. Gordon Cormier plays the lead role of Avatar Aang; Katara is portrayed by Kiawentiio; Sokka by Ian Ousley; Prince Zuko by Dallas Liu; and General Iroh by Paul Sun-Hyung Lee. Daniel Dae Kim plays Fire Lord Ozai; Ken Leung plays Commander Zhao, Zuko’s arch-rival; Elizabeth Yu plays Princess Azula; Maria Zhang plays Suki, the leader of the all-female Kyoshi Warriors; Amber Midthunder plays Princess Yue; Danny Audi plays The Mechanist, an inventor; Utkarsh Ambudkar plays King Bumi; George Takei plays Koh the Face Stealer; and Randall Dun Kim plays the owl spirit Wan Shi Tong, the Spirit Library’s custodian.

Reception of Avatar: The Last Airbender

The teaser of the show was released by the makers three days ago and has been seen by 12,778,423 people showing the anticipation and hype the teaser has created among audiences.
